The Matters Methodology

Just like everyone else, you have goals, ambitions, and dreams that you deeply care about. These are your Matters – the most important aspects of your life.

But our lives are incredibly busy. With so many distractions and tasks to juggle, our Matters often fade into the background. Before you know it, months have passed without meaningful progress towards your goals. You might even find yourself developing bad habits and ending up worse off than before.

It's time to take back control and live a more intentional life. With Matters, you'll learn how to hold yourself accountable and make meaningful progress towards your most important goals.

The heart of Matters is a simple, intuitive, yet powerful methodology divided into three steps: Set, Act, Reflect. Let’s dive deeper into how it works and how it can help you achieve what you want.

Set - your Matters

Matters can be anything: a goal, a person, a thing, even a feeling. The initial step of creating your personal list of Matters is crucial, as it prompts you to deeply consider what matters most to you at this stage of your life. We recommend starting with just three Matters to get into the groove. As you become more familiar with what works best for you, you'll adjust this list by completing Matters and adding new ones.

Act - your intentions

At the beginning of each week, write down your intentions for the upcoming week. The key here is to keep them actionable and achievable. Balance ambition with realism to ensure your motivation stays high, even if you don’t fully achieve everything. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Every small step will contribute to your larger goals over time.

Reflect - your journal & ratings

At the end of each week, reflect on your progress. Write down your thoughts and insights, creating a personal diary for each Matter. Rate your week to hold yourself accountable and monitor your progress. The goal isn’t always to have a perfect rating but to be honest with yourself. Use the rating system as a tool for motivation and a warning system for negative trends. Consistently high ratings might indicate that it's time to challenge yourself with new Matters. Consistently low ratings might be a sign that you have taken up more than you can handle or that you need to rethink how you structure and define your Matters.

Over time, this three-step pattern will become second nature, and you'll be amazed by the progress you make. By setting small, actionable goals each week and following through, you'll achieve remarkable results.

This is what one of our many happy users shared with us, and we are absolutely thrilled that Matters had such a big impact on his life: "Matters is a testament to the idea that greatness is in the details.
